The Project
A sailing school born of friendship, adventure and a shared obsession with the Atlantic.
A new sailing school for every dreamer who wants to travel differently
A genuine human adventure, in an idyllic and unspoilt setting, with a small team of passionate sailors, bringing together:
- discovering the Atlantic Ocean and its many moods
- sailing aboard a live-aboard monohull
- exploring the wildest corners of the Atlantic archipelagos
- encountering local marine wildlife and flora
From your first taste of sailing to the final preparations of your own voyage, Nerida supports you every step of the way.
Where it all began
Nerida is a project born from a group of friends passionate about sailing, adventure and wild nature, whose paths crossed on the Atlantic:
- Julie and Vincent, owners of Mangareva, searching for the best kite and surf spots in the Atlantic, made their boat available at the end of their voyage.
- Etienne and César, skippers and sailing instructors aboard a racing transatlantic in a Pogo 36, run the courses.
- Laura, on a sailing surf trip between two humanitarian missions, took charge of the admin side.
The seed was planted, and a year later the dream became reality… The Nerida sailing school was launched.
Our values
The origins
The name Nerida carries more than 3,000 years of history. It was chosen in tribute to the Nereids, the sea nymphs of Greek mythology, daughters of the sea god Nereus and the Oceanid Doris. Associated with emotions, they embody every phenomenon and state of the ocean, from still waters to the violence of storms, illustrating the complex relationship between humans and the sea. Protectors of ships on their voyages, they can also prove merciless towards sailors who offend them. It is also a little nod to Greece, one of the favourite playgrounds of our skipper Etienne in the Mediterranean!
Community
We believe the best learning happens in small groups. Sharing a sailboat for 10 days creates bonds that last well beyond disembarkation. Nerida is as much a human adventure as a nautical one.
Respect
The ocean demands humility and respect — from the marine life you encounter to the volcanic landscapes where you anchor. We sail lightly, leave no trace, and return each time filled with wonder.
"Are you ready to set sail on an adventure that is both introspective and collective, at the heart of nature and the elements, between action and contemplation?"
— The Nerida team
